4Culture Welcomes the Cultural Congress to King County
Monday, April 22 – Wednesday, April 24, 2013
Join 4Culture, administrators, educators, artists and cultural leaders from across Washington for the 2013 Cultural Congress, April 22 – 24, at the Seattle Center. Produced by the Washington State Arts Alliance this conference brings together arts professionals for skill-building workshops, peer dialogue and dynamic keynote speakers. This year’s keynote address will be presented by former NEA Chair, Bill Ivey.
The gathering is an opportunity for cultural professionals to continue their development, to network with a diverse, cross-disciplinary peer group and to increase their knowledge of the field. The Cultural Congress offers programming and networking opportunities that support, educate, and inspire artists, arts professionals, and cultural leaders.
On Monday, April 22nd a follow-up session of last Octobers’ highly successful Arts & Social Change Symposium will offer special programming to foster a continuing dialogue. The ASC keynote will be delivered by Roberto Bedoya, Executive Director of the Tucson Pima Arts Council, in a conversation facilitated by Huong Vu, of The Boeing Company. A roster of cultural leaders will deliver Lightning Talks before and after the keynote, with facilitated Round-Robin Responses following each set of presentations.
4Culture staff will present the following sessions:
Heather Dwyer joins Irene Gomez of the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs and Miguel Guillen of Artist Trust in presenting information about a new initiative to improve service to our combined constituencies of individual artists in Seattle, King County and Washington State.
Charlie Rathbun, Eric Taylor and Flo Lentz present a session on Historic Site(s) Specific performance.
Willow Fox moderates a panel on economic development and sustainable community building, through visionary partnerships with new business models.
