Accessibility

At 4Culture, we strive to ensure that everyone has access to all our activities, services, and content. If you anticipate or know you may experience a barrier to your participation, or if you need an accommodation or would like to request assistance to access any of our activities, please contact us at hello@4culture.org, 206-296-7580, TTY 711, or reach out to a specific staff member.

4Culture Building

4Culture Building

4Culture is located in a two-story, historic building in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. We are located one block south of the King County Courthouse and on the same block as the Tashiro Kaplan Artist Lofts. Our primary entrance is located on Prefontaine Place South which does not offer parking, but access vehicles may drop-off and pick-up within 25 feet of our front door.

Doors and Hallways

Doors and Hallways

All of our hallways and doorways—with the exception of our upstairs bathroom—are at least 32 inches wide and ADA compliant. Some staff work spaces where desks are located are less than 32 inches. All doors open manually; our front door and bathroom doors can be pushed open, while the doors to our three conference rooms hang on tracks and can be pulled open. Our front door, located at the corner of 3rd Avenue South and Prefontaine Place South, has a call box. During First Thursday Gallery Walk, a large sliding door leading straight into our Gallery is open continuously from 6:00—8:00 pm; please note that the main floor is especially crowded during these times.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting Rooms

4Culture has three meeting spaces. Our large conference room is located on the first floor and is the most easily accessible to those using mobility devices. Two smaller meeting rooms are located on the second floor. These are accessible using stairs or an elevator. All staff are trained in providing elevator access to guests.

Stairs and Steps

Stairs and Steps

Two staircases connect our first and second floors—both have handrails 3 feet off the ground, and neither has a lift. The main staircase is roughly 10 feet to your left as you enter from the front door and has no turns; at the top, two conference rooms and are roughly 4 feet in front of you. The back staircase includes one turn and is narrower than the main staircase; at the top, you will be near a bathroom and staff desks. Please ask 4Culture staff to escort you if you would like to use our elevator, as it requires a key to operate. To reach the elevator from the front door, you will travel down a hallway that includes a downward ramp.

Parking and Transit

Parking and Transit

4Culture does not have a parking garage or lot, and parking in Pioneer Square can sometimes be difficult. There are no disability-reserved parking spaces, and street parking is limited. The Frye Garage is across 3rd Ave S from our office—it is valet-only, $13 for 2 hours, and requires a half-block uphill travel to reach us. 4Culture is well-connected to public transit, with the closest bus stop located directly across Prefontaine Pl S from our front door—routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 13, 14, 15, 29, 36, 49, 70, and the D and E lines all service this stop. We recommend visiting AccessMap for help planning your trip to downtown Seattle and Pioneer Square.

Restrooms

Restrooms

Our building has three restrooms—two on the main floor and one on the second. All three restrooms are all-gender, and none require a key or code. The two on the main floor can be accessed via a hallway that includes a ramp. As you face them, the restroom on the right has a urinal, and one toilet stall; the lefthand restroom has two toilet stalls. All stalls have latches. In each restroom, one stall has roughly 4.5 by 4.5 feet of clearance space and a grab bar on one side of the toilet. The upstairs restroom has a lockable door, a grab bar on one side of the toilet, and roughly 4.5 by 4.5 feet of clearance space. It is directly to the left when you exit our elevator—please ask staff to escort you if you would like to use the elevator.

Fragrances

Fragrances

If you have sensitivity to fragrances and are planning to attend a meeting or activity at 4Culture, please contact us in advance and we will make our best effort to reduce or eliminate your exposure to fragrances. Without notice, we cannot guarantee that 4Culture is a fragrance-free space. Staff limit use of perfume and fragrances, but since we host many workshops, meetings, and gallery visitors, we cannot ensure that all of our guests have done the same. If you are planning on visiting 4Culture, we ask that you keep the health and safety of all our guests in mind and refrain from wearing fragrances. Smoking is prohibited on our premises, but many people who frequent the outdoor spaces surrounding our offices do smoke.

Materials for all 4Culture meetings can be made available in large-print or digital formats. Audio description services, American Sign Language interpreters, and Open Captioning are available as well. For any and all of these services, we ask that you request them two weeks in advance of attending your meeting. These services may not be available for activities hosted at 4Culture by other organizations or groups.
