Funding Programs

Over the past decade the tax revenue has allowed King County to invest over $20,000,000 in arts Cultural Facilities in dozens of communities, providing visitors and residents with high quality arts experiences. The tax has funded thousands of Special Projects by performers, visual artists and arts organizations, as well as festivals and special events in underserved neighborhoods.

King County visitors and residents benefit all year long from annual Sustained Support funding provided to more than 150 performing arts organizations, local arts agencies, museums, dance companies, arts service groups and theaters.

The SITE-SPECIFIC: King County Performance Network and Touring Arts Roster connect artists to communities, expanding opportunities for artists to gain employment and for audiences to see new work.

The use of Lodging Tax Revenues for cultural programs is scheduled to end in 2012. Beginning in 2013, all of the lodging tax revenue has been committed to finance Seahawk Stadium. 4Culture is working to ensure that a stable source of revenue will be available beyond 2013, to ensure a vibrant future for our visitors and citizens.

As stewards of King County's Lodging Tax Fund, 4Culture manages annual funding opportunities in arts, heritage and historic preservation. Applications are reviewed through peer panel processes, with recommendations for funding made based on published eligibility and review criteria. Panel recommendations are subject to final approval by the 4Culture Board of Directors.
