4Culture administers a number of funding programs available to King County artists and arts organizations on a competitive basis, including Sustained Support, Special Projects, and Cultural Facilities. Among the criteria used to evaluate applications for funding is the artistic quality of the applicants' programs.
The goal of the On-Site Review Program is to acquire detailed, qualitative assessments of the programming and management of organizations funded by 4Culture. Reviews are conducted for approximately 200 arts organizations that plan to apply to the 2008-2009 Sustained Support Program. Organizations to be reviewed may include producing and presenting groups in theatre, dance, music, media, literary and visual arts; as well as arts service and arts education groups.
Reviewers attend a scheduled event and provide written comments for use by grant review panels during their deliberations. Events may include, but are not limited to, performances, festivals, concerts, exhibits, or classes.
