The Heritage Program supports excellence and creativity in the identification, preservation, and interpretation of the unique heritage resources of King County and the education of the public about their value. This is accomplished by:
- Contributing to an inclusive record of the diverse history and heritage of King County, including its threatened and neglected geographic, ethnic and thematic aspects
- Encouraging participation in heritage programs and activities by individuals, organizations and agencies throughout King County
- Promoting professional standards and best practices
- Strengthening and supporting innovative heritage projects, organizations and agencies that provide public benefit
- Preserving and enhancing traditional aspects of community character
- Transmitting cultural resources and values to future generations
The Heritage Program works with a broad spectrum of individuals, organizations and agencies within and beyond the heritage community to accomplish its technical assistance, publications, funding, coordination and advocacy goals. |
