Public Art 4Culture: Extraordinary Spaces...Everyday Places

Collecting and commissioning public artwork for King County, Public Art 4Culture empowers artists and communities to create positive design solutions for the places we live and work.

The mission of our programming is to ensure that the work and thinking of artists is incorporated into King County buildings, public places and infrastructure. We believe that shared public space presents a unique opportunity to provide free and unlimited access to contemporary art, and that in creating artwork in the public realm we are building a legacy for the region and its citizens. Since the creation of King County's public art program 30 years ago the field has broadened and so has our reach and ambition for the collection.

In addition to serving the community through our Collection we offer the Artist Registry as a resource of public art to the region, present innovative monthly exhibitions through Gallery 4Culture, and run a vibrant Consulting practice.

Citizens and visitors can re-visit our former Poetry on Buses program as they navigate the transit system and discover the voice of the artist through Listen 4Culture, our cell phone audio program.

We invite you to explore our Collection, learn about Our Practice and experience the creative thinking of artists in Threads.

Our audio library may be found in Threads along with video, slide shows, and resources for artists and educators.
