They got spirit, yes they do! They got spirit, how ’bout you?!
On the downward sloping 9th fairway of Skagit Golf and Country Club, golfers and passers-by can’t help but notice a large, 82’ x 50’ hand painted number twelve. In celebration of the Seattle Seahawks’ journey to Super Bowl XLVIII, the private golf and country club chose to showcase its 12th Man pride on the turf. The Seahawks’ field manager was consulted on the creation of the super graphic which took two days to plot out and paint.* Like this historic Club, businesses and individuals throughout our region will celebrate with game day events, some more elaborate than others. In fact, we have our own 12th Man flag representing in our upper window. It’s located next to our Heritage program director’s desk, apt since the Washington State Historical Society is hoping to collect and preserve state wide expressions of Seahawks pride:
Calling all Seahawk Fans!! The Historical Society would like to capture this moment in our history by collecting memorabilia from this amazing season. We’d love to have you donate anything that is 12th Man, Seahawks, or Super Bowl. I know this stuff is tough to part with, but if you want to see it have a good home, donate it to us and we’ll add it to our permanent collection so it can be preserved as part of Washington History. GO HAWKS!
If you’ve created or documented 12th Man moments, objects or installations and you wish to add them to the Washington State historical record, email Kimberly Ketcham to make arrangements.
