We are excited to announce our funding calendar for the coming year. Beginning in January we roll out our grant programs with Project opportunities in Arts, Heritage & Preservation. Workshops will be offered by staff to assist applicants.  We offer Sustained Support, Equipment, Facilities, Collections Care and Project support for individuals and groups as well as our Site Specific program.  Open4Culture is new in 2014, an apply-any-time program designed to welcome new applicants that don’t fit into our other grant programs and who live outside of the City of Seattle and within King County.

Note: Facilities applications have been moved from November 2014 to January 2015, date TBD. You haven’t missed this round!

Check out the 2015 calendar and our Opportunities pages where you will also find 4Culture Public Art opportunities listed. To keep up with the latest news and deadlines, sign up for our Enews – you can receive announcements for public art opportunities and Site Specific programming too.

Gallery4Culture is currently seeking  proposals for exhibition September 2015 – July 2016. Deadline for submitting your application is January 5th. The gallery offers approximately 1,000 sq. ft. of street-level exhibition space in the Tashiro Kaplan building in Pioneer Square, Seattle. Visual artists working in all media and genres (except performance art) are eligible to apply. See below for additional restrictions.

Work samples and résumé must clearly demonstrate a candidate’s capacity to successfully execute the proposed exhibition. A Selection Panel of three regional arts professionals will review applications and award ten exhibitions. For more information about the gallery program and past exhibitions visit our Galleries website.

When to Apply
The application for Gallery4Culture is available online beginning November 17, 2014. The deadline for submission is 5:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2015. To avoid problems, do not wait until the last minute to apply!

Who Can Apply
Eligibility is limited to visual artists, collaborative teams and artist groups who reside in King County, WA. Applicants may not be represented by a commercial gallery at the time of submittal.

Visual artists working in all media and genres (except performance art) are eligible to apply. Emerging artists and those whose medium is under-represented in commercial venues are encouraged to submit. Members of artist run collectives and cooperative galleries may apply. Individual artists who have previously exhibited at Gallery4Culture in solo or two-person shows are ineligible to reapply for a period of three years.

Selection Process
A Selection Panel composed of three regional arts professionals will review applications and award ten exhibits starting fall 2015 and running through summer 2016. The panel composition changes every year; applicants who were previously not selected are encouraged to reapply. The selection panel considers the quality of the work as demonstrated in the application work samples as well as the conceptual strength of the proposal statement. Work samples and résumé must clearly demonstrate a candidate’s capacity to successfully execute the proposed exhibition. Cultural and geographic diversity are considerations of the panel, as is showcasing various approaches to contemporary art practice. The Selection Panel meets in late January to review submissions; applicants will be notified of results by mid-February.
