50th Anniversary Celebration
25 Hours of Performance
Friday, June 15, 7:00 pm – Saturday, June 16, 8:00 pm
Few organizations 4Culture funds cross as many boundaries as Jack Straw Productions. It’s a recording studio dedicated to all forms of audio art: music, spoken word (ranging from fiction to poetry to journalism and more), experimental work and more. And if that weren’t enough, they have an art/installation gallery. They’re celebrating their 50th Anniversary on June 15-16 by offering 25 straight hours of live performance—and, because they like to exceed all expectations, performances will be happening in two different spaces, meaning there’s actually 50 hours of live performance, all of which will be recorded.
Confirmed performers include Anzanga Marimba Ensemble, members of Aono Jikken Ensemble, Hank Bradley and Cathie Whitesides, Dawn Clement, Beth Fleenor, Lori Goldston, Jay Hamilton, Srivani Jade, Jessika Kenney and Eyvind Kang, Rachel Matthews, Robert Millis, Monktail Creative Music Concern, Melanie Noel (performing a new piece by Gust Burns), William Chapman Nyaho, Jim Page, Seattle Baroque Soloists, and Matt Weiner and Del Rey. Curators and alumni from the Jack Straw Writers Program reading include Elizabeth Austen, Matt Briggs, Kathleen Flenniken, Felicia Gonzalez, Jared Leising, John Mifsud, Donna Miscolta, Paul Nelson, Doug Nufer, Peter Pereira, Belle Randal, Susan Rich, Riz Rollins, Judith Roche, David Schmader, JT Stewart, and many more. It is an embarrassment of riches.
And if you are unable to go to Jack Straw and experience all this in person, it will be broadcast on Hollow Earth Radio. So really, you have no excuse for missing out on this celebration.
