This June, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra (SRJO) closes its twentieth anniversary season with a pair of concerts titled Mingus: Let My Children Hear Music.

The concerts explore the music of Charles Mingus, one of the most important figures in 20th Century American music and jazz. They will feature music from Mingus’s epic 1972 album “Let My Children Hear Music,” plus the 1960s civil rights era soliloquies, “Haitian Fight Song” and “Better Get Hit in Your Soul.” The June concerts will also feature special guest student soloists from local award-winning high school jazz programs in the region.
