Heritage Preservation recently announced their new online applications for the 2011 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) are now available at www.heritagepreservation.org/CAP. CAP funds support assessor professional fees, travel costs, and on-site expenses, making it possible for museums to obtain a professional conservation survey at a low cost. All participants receive a collections assessment. Museums with buildings older than 50 years receive additional funds for a historic structure assessor to identify priorities for care of the building(s). For institutions with living collections such as nature centers, botanical gardens, and arboreta, CAP can fund a specialist to assess the living collections.
The application deadline is January 21, 2011. CAP is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and administered by Heritage Preservation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of collections. For more information or any questions, please contact Sara Gonzales, CAP Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-233-0831.
