Destination Agriculture: Marymoor Park

Time to get out and smell the…tulips?

It is summer and whether the weather wants to cooperate or not, chances are you are looking for any opportunity to get out of the house. Centrally located, Marymoor Park is a great place to spend an hour or two, or even a whole afternoon, by yourself or with the family. (My family includes my adorable puppy who loves running around and meeting new friends in the off-leash area of the park.) This popular 640-acre park was purchased in 1962 by King County, and is a Destination Heritage site.

Located at the north end of Lake Sammamish, the park was once known as Willowmoor Farm and gained international fame for its progressive farming methods, prized Ayrshire cattle from Scotland and Morgan horses bred for the U.S. Army. The Clise Mansion, windmill, historic gardens and other features are preserved as a landmark district and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Things to do at this park:
Off Leash dog park
Pet Garden
Bird Watching
Clise Mansion
Reflexology
Dasani Bikes
Community Garden
Radio Control Field
Ballfields
Velodrome
Other events

OR…just lay in the grass.
