Friday & Saturday July 5 and 6: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
South Lake Union will host the 37th annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival over the 4th of July weekend. The Wooden Boat Festival is designed to celebrate the maritime heritage of Seattle and get people out on the water in historic boats. Celebrate our maritime heritage at this free waterfront festival in the revitalized South Lake Union neighborhood.
Visitors will see dozens of historic sailing and rowing vessels from the Center for Wooden Boats collection, and many historic private vessels brought to the show by their proud owners. Festival attendees can explore the many styles of boatbuilding in the Northwest, ranging from modern skiffs and cedar strip kayaks to traditional Native-American cedar canoes. Family activities include Toy Boat Building, Storytime aboard the historic tug boat Arthur Foss and model boat sailing in the park’s boat pond. Local music talent will be featured on the festival stage and patrons will enjoy food and a beer garden. Follow up the festival on the 4th of July with fireworks over Lake Union. A boatload of fun awaits!
