Eligibility: Artists should reside in Washington State. Please provide your previous artworks and an artist biography for the initial selection process. Successful candidates will demonstrate how they see their work fitting into the mound area, including ideas for landscaping to integrate the work into its site, as well as how their choice of materials and how the work is secured to the site are responsive to its setting in an unsupervised outdoor public setting.
The Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens is seeking an artist to provide interactive artwork(s) that encourage participation and exploration, shaping the artistic experience through movement, and engaging viewers and children. The specific site for the work is a low mound in a newly redesigned area called the Backyard Garden. The area is 29′ x 25′ by about 3′ in height, with an irregular shape. Site tours are encouraged and may be scheduled at contactus@evergreenarboretum.com. Public art experience is preferred but not required. Up to three artists will be selected to receive a $500 payment to provide a rendering. Installation in 2025.
