Chief Seattle Club
Sharing the Ancestors Gifts – Request for Artwork Proposals
Eligibility: Coast Salish, Native American and Alaskan Native Artists and Art Collectors living and residing in the United States are welcome and encouraged to submit proposals.
The Chief Seattle Club is requesting concept proposals for artwork to be commissioned or purchased for placement in and on the new addition to the Chief Seattle Club established on the traditional territory of the Duwamish Tribe and located in the Pioneer Square neighborhood in Seattle, Washington.
The Chief Seattle Club exists to provide sacred space to nurture, affirm and renew the spirit of urban Native people. We are a Native-led human service agency that provides for the basic needs of our members, many of whom are experiencing homelessness. Our new Annex consists of an eight-story mixed-use building incorporating an art gallery/cafe, an integrated healthcare clinic and seven floors of low income, workforce housing for at risk adult Native Americans.
Native people in urban areas face unique challenges and the Chief Seattle Club embraces the diversity of Native cultures, languages, and traditions of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives as the primary method for healing a transformation. Artwork considered for installation must align with our core values of wellness and healing for our members.
