MidPen Housing is seeking an artist to create a public art installation at Shirly Chisholm Village, an affordable housing development in the Outer Sunset District of San Francisco.
Shirley Chisholm Village is the first affordable housing development in San Francisco to serve San Francisco Unified School District’s teachers, paraeducators, employees, and their families. Created collaboratively by MidPen Housing, San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), and San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD), the development process of this 135-unit community in the Outer Sunset (1360 43rd Avenue) has been significantly informed by an inclusive and extensive community outreach process. Named after Shirley Chisholm, an educator and the first Black woman elected to Congress in 1968, this project will help address San Francisco’s critical need for affordable housing for educators.
