This internship offers an opportunity for an individual to engage with collections management and historical research by studying a specific collection at the Tukwila Historical Society: the Sister City Collection of Japanese items from 1980s and 1990s. The intern will conduct a thorough inventory, historical research, and documentation of artifacts, which may include textiles, ceramics, or decorative arts. The primary goal is to assess the collection’s scope, relevance to Tukwila’s history, and current physical condition. The final output will be a comprehensive report providing recommendations for future preservation, use, and deaccessioning. This work is critical for the long-term stewardship of the Society’s holdings.
