locals honored with pollock-krasner award

If rumors are true, congratulations are in order. ArtNet is reporting that King County based artists Rick Araluce, Etsuko Ichikawa, Ken Kelly and Alex Schweder are among those selected to receive a 2009 Pollock-Krazner Foundation award.

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation was created by the late Lee Krasner, painter and widow of Jackson Pollock. The Foundation has awarded 125 grants totaling $2,093,140 to individual artists and arts organizations over the last 25 years. The average award is about $16,000. Grants are made to professional visual artists through out the world, based on dual criteria of artistic merit and financial need. The Foundation has not yet posted results on the website.
