Help give away 1 Million dollars!

The Seattle-Puget Sound area has been selected as the 2010 region for the Partners in Preservation initiative.  The initiative was begun in 2006 when American Express, in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, pledged to give away $5.5 million toward preserving historic places throughout the United States. This year, it’s our turn.

American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation have identified 25 historic places that reflect this region’s rich and diverse heritage, and you can vote for your favorite! Beginning April 15 (and running until May 12) cast your vote at www.PartnersInPreservation.org for the places you would like to receive preservation funding, and share your personal stories and photos of the nominated sites.

Nominated sites in King County are:
Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks
Kirkland Arts Center
5th Avenue Theatre
Seattle (Horiuchi) Mural
Japanese Cultural & Community Center
King Street Station
Town Hall Seattle
Tugboat Arthur Foss
University Heights School
TheodoreJacobsen Observatory
Washington Hall
Naval Reserve Armory
Seattle Urban League Building
Chapel Car 5 “Messenger of Peace”

Each person can vote once daily, and the winner of the public vote is guaranteed to receive a grant, so vote now and often!
