Ryan Molenkamp: Flood
Exhibition running: December 2 – 30, 2010
Opening: 1st Thursday, December 2, 6 – 8 p.m.
We are delighted to welcome Seattle painter Ryan Molenkamp to the Gallery this December. In a series of paintings, executed in oils and graphite on panel, Ryan Molenkamp explores natural disasters exacerbated by development, self-interest, and climate change. He transforms what we all have witnessed, first hand or on the local news, into art. Molenkamp’s imagery aptly conveys the calamitous result of the built environment’s encroachment onto fragile ecosystems. As we head into the rainy season, Flood is a must see.
The artist reception on this 1st Thursday, December 2nd from 6 – 8 p.m. and will be followed by an 8 – 9 p.m. Floating Bridge Press reading featuring poets Dennis Caswell and Sharon Cumberland. Both events are free and the public is welcome.
