Artist Talk for Four Seasons window installation

Friday, October 10th 7:00-8:00 pm
826 Seattle
8414 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103

Four Seasons is a window installation by Tory Franklin at 826 Seattle, that changes scenes every other week throughout 2014. During her talk the artist will present work from the first three tales as well as present other installations in the same body of work.

Tory Franklin’s narrative artwork incorporates diverse media unified by her use of pattern, print and scale. With only a few months left in the year-long Four Seasons project, the artist invites the public to an in-depth talk about the piece. The tales to be discussed are Winter Tale: Peter and the Wolf, Spring Tale: The Man who Made Trees Bloom and Summer Tale: The Flying Lion.

Franklin will talk about the process of adapting these tales to an installation format dealing with quick turn around and her process, and delve into her love of the golden age of children’s book illustration. The constantly changing nature of this piece allows her to explore storytelling with the flexibility normally relegated to the private world of an artist studio. Documentation of each scene change can be found on her website as the piece progresses, along with scenes previously installed.
