There’s no shortage of opportunities to take in amazing performances by 4Culture’s Touring Arts Roster. Here are some of the inspired productions, concerts and free outdoor events offered by TAR artists the rest of August:

 

The Cabiri presents: “Ailuran: The Bardo To Tewaz” an epic new production that explores ancient Neolithic archetypes through spectacular acrobatics, aerial artistry and contemporary dance. Opening last night to a packed house, this show runs just three days: Thursday, August 8th – Saturday, August 10th, 8pm, at Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue, WA. ($18 Student/Senior; $25 General; $35 Reserved Exclusive VIP Seating).

 

Smiling Scandanavians, widely revered as Seattle’s most fun and entertaining polka band, performs this afternoon, Friday, August 9th, 3pm at the Jefferson County Fair, Port Townsend, WA.

 

Seattle Shakespeare Company presents its last weekend of free, summer, parks performances of The Tempest and Henry V, Friday, August 9th – Sunday, August 11th at Luther Bank Park, Mercer Island.

 

Barbie Anakaperforms with her band tonight, Friday, August 9th, 8-10pm,  at Salty’s Redondo Beach in DesMoines, WA. Enjoy her warm sultry songs while taking in views of the Olympic Mountains.

 

Lelavision Physical Music, presents their original, highly entertaining performance work this weekend at Sammamish Days, Saturday, August 10th  at 10:30 and 11:30; and the Arts in Nature Festival at the pond on Sunday the 11th, 12:30-1:30p.

 

Greta Matassa in Quartet will be presented by the San Juan Community Theater this weekend, Saturday, August 10th, 8pm, at the Whittier Theatre, 100 2nd St N‎, Friday Harbor, WA. ($26 Adults/ $13 Students/ $5 RUSH). Don’t miss when Greta takes the stage in Trio with the great pianist, Marc Seales and bassist Clipper Anderson at North City Jazz Walk, Tuesday August 13th, 7-10pm, at the North City Theater, 17517 15th ave NE Shoreline, WA.

 

SuperSones, masters of Cuban Son, perform as Trio SuperSones this Saturday, August 10th, 8:30-11:30pm at Brass Tacks in Georgetown 6031 Airport Way S, Seattle WA; and on Sundays, August 11th & 25th, 5:30-8:30pm, at Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria, 44th & Stone Way in Wallingford. Both venues are all ages offering food and drink. On Sunday, August 11th, at 2pm SuperSones will be showcased at South Park Library for “South Park Rocks.” The SuperSones Septet will host a higher energy dance set featuring guest master of the Cuban Cuatro, Kiki Valera, for a 21+ event on Wednesday, August 21st, 10pm, Free at The Scarlet Tree, 801 NE 65th St, Seattle WA.

 

The Tarantellas share their Italian charm at the Marysville Street Fair this weekend, Saturday, August 10th, Noon-1pm. Also, don’t miss the last of their summer Italian Music Night Tuesdays at Vito’s Restaurant and Lounge, Tuesday, August 20th, 6-9pm, 21+ (Ninth and Madison in Seattle). Free.

 

theater simple brings its interactive production of “The Adventures of Owl and Pussycat” to the Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks Park in Kent this Sunday, August 11th, 1pm. FREE.

 

The Lonely Coast, the funky folk duo will be backed by their new dance band, Gadje Gringa, for some 21+ fun at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard, August 14th, 8:30pm. $6 cover.

 

Zambini Bros. Puppets performs their new show, “Sammy and the Sand Box Mystery” at the Library of your choice. FREE. World Famous Adventurer Sammy T. Jones is digging and searching for dinosaur bones. He’s dug up so many, he’s nearly lost count, But he’s really quite sure it’s a mammoth amount!

Del Rey shares her ukelele expertise at the Carnation Barn Concerts this weekend, Saturday, August 10th , in a daytime arts fair workshop and will bring down the house at a 7:30 pm concert. Tickets $10 concert/ $20 workshop/ $25 both. See Del with Arthur Migliazza, Orville Johnson and Grant Dermody; Friday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 25th, 7:30pm, Kenyon Hall 7904 35th Avenue SW, Seattle, WA. Tickets $10-$14.

 

Cordaviva brings their Afro-Latin style dance music to lunch downtown at City Hall Plaza as part of Seattle’s summer series, Thursday August 15th, noon-1:30pm. On Friday, August 23rd , enjoy their indoor dance party on Vashon Island at The Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi, 8:30pm, All ages until 11pm and 21+ after. Free.

 

Dunava, the talented women’s a capella choir, is having a CD release party for their new recording of Bulgarian folk songs, “Bulgaria”, on Saturday, August 17th, 7:30 pm at Q Cafe, 3223 15th Ave W, Seattle WA.

 

Show Brazil!  Eduardo Mendoca and his all start line up celebrate Carnival style at the 15th Annual BrazilFest, Sunday, August 18th6:30-7:15 pm, Mural Amphitheater Stage, Seattle Center, Seattle, WA. If you can’t make that party, try to catch them again on Saturday, August 24th, 3-5pm, at Saltwater State Park, 25205 8th Place South, Des Moines, WA. Both of these performances are FREE family fun.

 

Valse Café Orchestra will perform the finale night of Seattle Parks & Recreation’s summer dance series, Dancing Till Dusk at SAM Sculpture Park, Thursday, August 29th, 6-9pm. Beginner dance lessons in Waltz, Swing, Foxtrot and Polka are offered during the first hour of this “Ball Blanc” (wear something white). Free.

 

Unexpected Productions has for 30 years, offered Seattle Theatresports combining sports and comedy into a wholly unique show that never fails to elicit cheers, jeers, and plenty of laughs. Catch it any weekend Friday or Saturday, 10:30pm at Unexpected Productions’ Market Theater.
