Vets Restore partners are extremely proud to announce that the Rafn Company has joined our team as a Construction Industry Affiliate. A huge thank-you to Rafn for making this visible commitment to the returning veterans of King County.
“We are honored to be a part of the Vet Restore Program to help our returning veterans,” says Shawn Rhode, President. “Through this program they will learn the skills and knowledge needed to start a solid career renovating, rebuilding, and protecting our country’s historic buildings.”
Founded in 1978 by Jack Rafn, the company is based in Bellevue but works around the Puget Sound region and beyond. Rafn has always had a strong focus on the rehabilitation of historic buildings, although nowadays their work includes plenty of new commercial construction. Certified sustainable design, multi-family housing, places of worship, office and restaurant renovations – Rafn does it all.
It’s hard to think of a local construction firm that’s more tied to revitalizing our historic building stock. The Cadillac Hotel in Pioneer Square, the Garden Center Building at Pike Place Market, Trinity Church, Colman School Apartments/Northwest African American Museum, the Morrison Hotel, and Washington Hall are all part of their portfolio. That’s what makes Rafn such a good fit for Vets Restore.
Our Construction Industry Affiliates are absolutely critical to the success of our program. These companies mentor our veteran participants during their training, and then provide them valuable experience through a five-week internship at active job sites. What a great entre into the preservation trades!
Rafn joins JAS Design/Build, Bear Wood Windows, and others on our roster of Affiliates as we launch year two of Vets Restore. Applications are now OPEN through June 9th to all qualified veterans.
Thank you Rafn Company!
