Public Art: Extraordinary Spaces...Everyday Places
Public Art 4Culture commissions contemporary art for shared public space in King County, ensuring that King County buildings, public places and infrastructure include the work and thinking of artists. We maintain King County's public art collection which includes portable, permanently sited and architecturally integrated artworks that help define County buildings as cultural spaces. Through the work we do with County partners, community stakeholders and artists we contribute to a cultural legacy for the region and its citizens.
All artwork is selected through a public process that is carried out by a Selection Panel and managed with the oversight of a Citizens Advisory Committee. We serve the region with a vibrant consulting practice in planning, selection and implementation of public artwork.

Monthly exhibits in Gallery 4Culture are juried annually and feature King County artists working in all forms and media. Gallery 4Culture participates in First Thursday Artwalk. Come on down!
Listen 4Culture was developed in 2008 to give voice to the artworks in the collection. Audio content may be found on the interactive

Public Art staff gives lectures to civic groups, conventions, educational institutions and for city departments in areas such as art in civic infrastructure, the value of adding the thinking of artists to civic development, best practices in the field and Public Art 101, an introduction to art in the public domain. We have presented artist panels and workshops related to these themes as well.
