About the Opportunity
The Storefront Media Gallery offers artists a unique platform to present their work publicly, enlivening the heart of Seattle’s urban core. The Artist Carousel is designed as an open opportunity, highlighting the diverse creative voices of artists living and working across King County.
- Four digital screens (1920 x 1080 each) are located in 4Culture’s storefront windows, facing Prefontaine Place South.
- More than 20,000 people pass by daily on foot, bike, or bus.
- Artwork will rotate in a programmatic loop from 7:00 am–10:00 pm daily.
Opportunity
4Culture invites artists to submit one (1) still image of their artwork for presentation in the Storefront Media Gallery. Selected artworks will join a rotating schedule on one of the four screens. Artwork will also be featured on 4Culture’s website, in a roster format, alongside the artist’s name, image credit, and website link.
Storefront screens will display the artist’s name, city of residence, image, and artwork information. No more than two (2) artworks will be shown at a time, and images will rotate on a programmatic loop.
Open to King County based visual artists in all disciplines: drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, installation, photography, textile, digital art, or stills from film/video. (AI-generated artwork will not be accepted.) All works must be displayed as still images. Artworks should have been created within the last three years.
By submitting to 4Culture, you (the artist) represent and warrant that:
- The submitted image is your original work and has not been copied, in whole or in part, from any other source.
- You are the sole owner of all rights, title, and interest in and to the images, including all associated copyrights, and you have full authority to grant the rights described herein.
- You assume full responsibility for the content of the images, including, without limitation, securing any necessary permissions or releases for the likeness of recognizable individuals depicted therein.
The physical and intellectual property rights to the original artwork shall remain with you, the artist. 4Culture’s role is to promote artists and their work.
If your work is accepted, you grant 4Culture permission to reproduce, display, and distribute the images on the Storefront Media Gallery screens, our website, and social media channels, solely for purposes that are educational and non-commercial. Whenever feasible, 4Culture will provide credit to you and acknowledge your copyright. 4Culture will not use your images for any other purpose without consent.

Selection Criteria

Selection Criteria
Artwork will be evaluated on appropriateness in concept and content for a public location and should be suitable for all ages. Artistic merit will be taken into consideration, which may include originality of concept, strength of composition and design, technical proficiency in the chosen medium, and the ability to evoke thought, emotion, or engagement from an audience.
To ensure the work is suitable for all audiences, we ask artists to avoid imagery with explicit sexual content, graphic violence, hate speech, cultural insensitivity, profanity, or deeply sensitive themes that could be triggering. We also recommend steering clear of work that is overtly political or primarily promotional in nature.
