Public Art Commission of Huntersville

Huntersville SculpTOUR 2025-27, NC

  • Deadline:
  • Budget: $12,000
  • Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all artists, preferably professional sculptors, who are at least 18 years of age and reside in the United States. Town employees and members of the Huntersville Public Art Commission are not eligible to apply.

The Public Art Commission (PAC) of Huntersville, NC, is seeking pieces of leasable original outdoor sculptures that may be functional or nonfunctional, temporary, or permanent work in any media suitable for outdoor public space to be installed for two years on the Downtown Greenway running through Holbrook Park in Huntersville, NC.

The Huntersville Public Art Commission has worked hard to bring public art to downtown Huntersville. In 2021, the PAC secured the artist, David Landis, for the new ‘Ivy Sculpture’ that was installed at the Downtown Greenway Trail Head, which is the start of the ‘tour’. The addition of the Huntersville SculpTOUR to the downtown area has added additional pieces to the area creating social offerings, openness, and welcome-ness to Huntersville. The Downtown Greenway connects to the extension of the Torrence Creek Greenway running under Interstate 77 – public art is also installed in the tunnel under the interstate, thanks to the Arts & Science Council and Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation. Adding the trailhead/plaza, public art, and expanding downtown open space to the Downtown area is in line with the Huntersville Community Plan 2040 Policy
