Tenure-Track Position in Studio Art

  • Deadline:

The Department of Art at Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in studio art, with a focus on interdisciplinary, multimedia, and/or socially engaged practices. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work engages in innovative, post-studio approaches that integrate diverse media, methods, and conceptual frameworks, including social practice, and who are eager to collaborate with and contribute to the community while thriving in a dynamic campus environment.

The successful candidate will teach five one-semester courses over the academic year, which may include introductory, intermediate, and advanced-level studio courses, and will supervise year-long senior thesis projects. The position is supported by the potential of teaching in one or more of the drawing, ceramics, and/or print/bookmaking studios. With possibilities for reconfiguration and aspirations for future expansion, these studios accommodate a wide range of creative practices.

The committee welcomes applications from candidates who demonstrate dedication to and promise of excellent teaching ability, as well as a commitment to mentoring a broad range of undergraduate students in a liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will collaborate with a vibrant team of studio art and art history faculty, contributing to the interdisciplinary culture of the department and college.
