Production Carpenter

The Production Carpenter works with the Technical Director, Head Carpenter, and affected Department Heads to plan seasonal and show-specific Carpentry Department labor, projects, staffing and equipment needs.

Represented by IATSE, Local No. 15.

-Support the visions of the Director, Scenic Designer, and Music Director
-Generate and manage drawings and documentation for hang charts, unit lists, off-stage scenery and properties storage plans, truck packs, automation inventory, and scenic installation assembly information
-Create load in/load out plans with the Head Carpenter and affected Department Heads
-Assist the technical and creative teams in planning and development of production scenery and production infrastructure projects
-Coordinate with the Head Builder, Head Carpenter, and automation programmer(s) to execute the fabrication, modification, installation, and operation of production automation systems and associated scenery and infrastructure
-With the Technical Direction team, Head Builder, and any other affected Department Head, problem solve technical issues which arise during the planning, build, load-in, technical rehearsal, and changeover processes
-Attend meetings, run-throughs, technical and dress rehearsals, previews + performances
-Prepare, maintain, install and/or remove scenery, rigging, and equipment
-Provide technical support for other in-house events

Eligibility
Successful candidates must collaborate positively with designers, directors, and stage managers. Skilled in stage carpentry for large-scale productions, with project management experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD/Vectorworks. Experienced in systems processes, technical drawing interpretation, budgeting, and safety regulations. Familiar with production elements and strong communication skills. The ability to work overtime, evening, and weekend hours based on performances.
